1. Product Description
MonacoDCcolor is the ideal digital camera profiling solution,
created with professional photographers in mind. Profiling a digital
camera allows users to seamlessly integrate digital shots into
an ICC color managed workflow. MonacoDCcolor works in conjunction
with industry standard color targets, which have been specifically
developed for use with digital cameras to produce the highest
quality digital camera profiles available.
Digital camera profiling ensures that digital captures will look
their best and match the original scene colors. As a result, users
spend less time retouching their images to recover the original
scene colors. MonacoDCcolor is the perfect accompaniment to any
color managed workflow that already includes monitor and output
profiling.
2. Features
Creates ICC profiles for digital cameras
MonacoDCcolor allows user to create ICC standard color profiles
for digital cameras. These ICC profiles are then used as part
of a color managed workflow to accurately display and convert
images from the digital camera color space to the color space
of another device. This process maximizes the color rendering
potential of the digital camera and allows other devices to accurately
display or print the digital captures.
Unsurpassed profile quality
An intelligent algorithm examines the digitally captured input
target and automatically selects the best profile building routine
to maximize profile quality. As a result, MonacoDCcolor generates
the highest quality ICC profiles for digital cameras.
Automatic Target Correction
MonacoDCcolor performs a comprehensive analysis of your digitally
captured color target before building an ICC profile. The program
performs automatic color balancing and compensation for uneven
target illumination. This feature ensures that MonacoDCcolor builds
the highest quality profile from each digital capture of the color
target.
Support for popular digital camera
targets
MonacoDCcolor supports for the following camera targets:
GretagMacbeth ColorChecker
GretagMacbeth ColorChecker DC
Reflective HutchColor Target (HCT)
Provides statistical information
MonacoDCcolor provides statistical information about the color
performance of your digital camera and the created profile. These
profile statistic include the following:
Average deltaE for every color patch in the camera target
Average deltaE CMC for every color patch in the camera
target
Average deltaE for only the color patches that are inside
the
cameras color gamut
Percentage of color patches that are inside the cameras
color gamut vs. percentage of color patches that are outside
the cameras color gamut
Wizard-like interface
MonacoDCcolor employs a wizard-like interface that breaks down
the profile building process into very clear steps. This approach
greatly simplifies the entire profile building process.

DOES MONACODCCOLOR REQUIRE A SOFTWARE PROTECTION KEY (DONGLE)?
Yes. MonacoDCcolor ships with one USB dongle that may be used
on any of the supported operating systems.
WHAT KIND OF DIGITAL CAMERAS DOES MONACODCCOLR SUPPORT?
Technically, MonacoDCcolor will build a profile for any digital
camera. However, Monaco Systems only recommends profiling digital
cameras that allow users to download images from the camera with
automatic image / color processing DISABLED. This statement is
generally true for midrange and high-end cameras. This statement
may not be true for all low-end, consumer cameras.
WHICH COLOR TARGET PROVIDES THE BEST PROFILE RESULTS?
It would be very difficult to predict which color target will
provide the absolute best results for the growing list of digital
cameras on the marker today. However, from our experience, Monaco
Systems has observed that the original GretagMacbeth ColorChecker
(24 color patch target) generally provides the most accurate and
robust color profiling results.
HOW MANY DIFFERENT ICC PROFILES DOES A USER NEED TO BUILD?
Generally, Monaco Systems recommends that a camera profile be
built for each unique camera and lighting combination. For example,
if the user has two different cameras and they shoot under daylight
and tungsten lighting, they should build a total of four digital
camera profiles.
